For smokers this is a must read. Risks are very real, and this study makes it clear.
This article has a little bit of general information about arteriosclerosis, but mostly it discusses one particular study about cigarettes. Researchers compared the atherosclerotic effects on mice of smoke from low-nicotine cigarettes with that from standard cigarettes, and found that the low-nicotine ones were less atherosclerotic.
